Dennis V. Burke
Dennis V Burke -a true Jamaican by birth was raised in Bath, St Thomas. He attended Bath All-Age School where he established himself as an avid reader and a lover of the written word at an early age. He attended Morant Bay High School and graduated in 1985.
In 1986 he migrated to the United States of America armed with the motto of his High School, Carpe Diem ....seize the opportunity. He attended Florence Darlington Technical College; pursued undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he majored in Workforce Education and Development and minored in Human Resource Development. He earned his MBA with an emphasis in Managerial Leadership at Webster University.
Dennis joined the staff of Wendy's in 1987 as an assistant manager. He placed roots there and progressively moved up the ranks. He served in the capacities of General Manager, Training Store Manager, District Manager, Director of IT, Director of Auditing & Inventory Control and now twenty-one years later he is the Director of Operations for over twenty units in a franchise operation.
Dennis took a short stint away from Wendy's as the Human Resource Manager and Director of Operations in a global Project Management company.
In addition, Dennis Burke is the founding partner in JaCoffa, an on-line based import and distribution company of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.
As a committed Educator, Dennis has spent the better part of twenty years in training and development and coaching. He also serves as an Adjunct faculty member in the Business Administration Department at both Coker College and Florence Darlington Technical College, in South Carolina.
He continues to serve on multiple Education/ Economic and Community Development Boards in South Carolina.
Writing with the pseudonym, Jamaica Mann, he has authored of the book "WENG - The Attitude of Growth after Intellectual Failure."This book focuses on the role of belief, attitude, and discipline in personal growth and the achievement of purpose.
Dennis lives in Florence, South Carolina where he enjoys the openness of the land, view of nature and the planting of a tree or two. He enjoys his relationship with his mother and siblings and describes himself as, "A happy husband, a proud father of three wonderful daughters, and a son of God."
